As well as her work as an artist, Anne Ward trained in web and graphic design, and has run Newmarket-based design company Blue Violet since 2004. Her clients in this field range from local sole traders through to larger companies, including Amy Murphy Racing Ltd, Southcourt Stud and BBA Shipping & Transport Ltd.
Blue Violet’s services include photography, as well as logo design, stationery and brochure layout, proofreading and copywriting.

I visited Rhenen’s Zoo (in The Netherlands) and was so impressed with everything — the standard of care for the animals, the layout and attention to detail in terms of retaining the interest of visitors of all ages, and quite simply the beauty of the place.
If you ever get the chance to visit, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. The rescued bears, naturalised as far as possible in a very carefully thought-out environment, are a highlight of any visit, but there are many other animals to see, and it is clear that the staff are dedicated to their welfare (and in some cases this is a long process, as they have taken responsibility for previously abused animals).
Here are a few pictures from my visit, including a magnificent brown bear called Mackenzie.
Animals Asia, Compassion in World Farming and Alertis all carry out tremendous work in the field of animal welfare.
